Beloved United Methodist Church is part of the Olentangy River District and the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. Both the conference and the district offer opportunities for members of Beloved to connect outside our home church. They provide occasions for us to connect with other United Methodists, share worship experience, offer classes and training opportunities. In a changing world, we must dedicate ourselves to continuing to grow in our faith and finding ways to share the gospel with our community.

Conference Zoom meeting on Food Insecurity

Ohio United Methodists Mobilize to Address Food Insecurity Amid Federal Shut-Down

As the federal shut-down threatens to delay or suspend SNAP benefits, communities across Ohio are facing a growing crisis of food insecurity. In response, the Ohio Episcopal Area, which consists of the East and West Ohio Conferences, is calling on all United Methodists in the State to unite in action and compassion.

To address this urgent need, ten district-wide Zoom gatherings have been scheduled to bring together clergy and lay leaders from local churches. These virtual meetings are designed to:

1-  learn what churches are already doing to support individuals experiencing food insecurities,

2- explore opportunities for collaboration and mobilization, and

3- coordinate how the conference can provide support and resources.

This grassroots initiative is built on the strength of our connection in response to the urgency of the moment. It’s more than a call to prayer – it’s a call to action.

If you have questions about this ministry initiative, please e-mail Julie Carter, Faith Formation and Lay Ministries director at jcarter@wocumc.org.
